AIDS is faceless, but every victim has got one.

New therapies like the combination therapy may delay the illness' outbreak, but the consequences for the victims are the same.
The Maltese AIDS Service is a care organisation of the Grand Priory of Austria within the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.
We try to ease suffering, overcome expulsion from society and preserve human dignity.
A main part of our activities is to learn about the needs of the victims and overcome their problems, based on a personal relationship of trust and friendship.

We do not ask about guilt or innocence. Our aim is to find a way out of need and anguish together with he victims.

The WHO estimates the number of HIV people higher than 36,1 million. In the year 2000 more than 5,3 million were newly infected. More than half are under 25. So far some 22 million people have died from AIDS. 75 % were infected through unsafe heterosexual intercourse.
Most endangered are the people in the poorest countries in the world. Afrika, Asia and Latin America have no political lobby, no social security system, but they have sex tourism. The highest increase rates (60%) are in Eastern Europe and South East Asia.
