Brief Biography
Jean de Lastic led the Order during the Ottoman siege of Rhodes in 1444.

Life and service to the Order
He is also associated with the first recorded use by a Hospitaller leader of the title Grand Master (grandis magister).
Rhodes provided the Order with a new island headquarters after its departure from the Holy Land. Its masters balanced hospitaller service, maritime defence and the government of a fortified Mediterranean state.
