Guy de Blanchefort was elected Grand Master in 1512 while he was in Nice.

Life and service to the Order
He sailed towards Rhodes but died on the journey in 1513 without reaching the Order's headquarters.
Rhodes provided the Order with a new island headquarters after its departure from the Holy Land. Its masters balanced hospitaller service, maritime defence and the government of a fortified Mediterranean state.
